How to share a Post on Instagram Stories

We know people share posts to their communities on other social media apps, and we’ve made it easier for people to share posts on Instagram Stories.

Note: Please be aware that X content shared and posted on Instagram may not reflect the current state of the content on X and will be governed by Instagram’s policies and rules. For more detail on their policies, please visit Instagram’s Help Center.

How to share a Post on Instagram Stories
Step 1

Make sure you have the Instagram app installed on your device. Log into your account.

Step 2

Open up X for iOS app. Tap the share icon  on a public Post.
Note: A protected Post cannot be shared.

Step 3

Tap the Instagram icon. 

Step 4

Your X for iOS app will close, and a new Story draft on your Instagram app will open. 

Step 5

The Post you want to share will appear as a moveable and resizable sticker to share on Instagram Stories. 

Step 6

You can share the Post with a single person, a group, or all of your followers.
