How to approve or deny follower requests

Control who can follow you by approving or denying follower requests. If your account is protected, you'll review requests before people can see your posts.

To approve or deny a follower request
  1. In the top menu, tap your profile icon.

  2. Tap Follower requests.

  3. You’ll see a list of all follower requests.

  4. Tap the checkmark to approve the request, or tap the >x< to deny it.

If you don't see a follower request notification on your profile

  • You may have public posts. Protect your posts in order to control who follows you. You can do this by adjusting your Privacy and safety settings.
  • People with public posts do not have the option to approve followers. If you previously had protected posts, any pending follower requests will not be accepted automatically. Those people will need to follow you again.
  • You may not have any follower requests. When there are zero requests, the notification message disappears completely from your profile.
  • If you received an email notifying you of a new follower pending approval, but do not see that request in your pending requests, it's likely that the person decided to cancel the request after sending it.
