Reporting non-consensual intimate content under the US Take It Down Act

Overview

X is committed to respecting your safety and privacy. We prohibit the publication, sharing, or distribution of non-consensual intimate photos or videos. This includes real photographs and videos as well as synthetically generated content - images or videos created or altered using artificial intelligence or other tools - that depict an identifiable individual in an intimate or sexual context without that person’s consent.

X maintains a clear, easy-to-use notice-and-removal process for anyone affected by such content on the X platform. This page provides information about our removal process and how to submit a report under the US Take It Down Act.

How can I report content under the Take It Down Act?

  1. Navigate to the X post that contains the content you want to report.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu (⋯).
  3. Select “Private or Non-Consensual Content > Report content under the US Take It Down Act” and then complete the form.
  4. You can also submit a report directly through our Help Center form: https://help.x.com/forms/safety-and-sensitive-content/take-it-down.

You do not need an X account to submit a report. Users in the US without an account can report via the form mentioned above.

What happens after I submit a report?

Upon receipt of a valid removal report, we will:

  • Remove violative, reported intimate photos or videos as soon as possible, and no later than 48 hours after receiving the request.

  • Notify you of the outcome.
