Information from X

X's purpose is to serve the public conversation. Violence, harassment and other similar types of behavior discourage people from expressing themselves, and ultimately diminish the value of global public conversation. We’re committed to supporting people’s right to open, accurate, and safe political discourse on X. It is our top priority to protect our platform during elections to ensure the safety and authenticity of people and conversations on X.

X Rules

Our Rules are to ensure all people can participate in the public conversation freely and safely. We encourage you to review our Rules and policies. X is steadfast in safeguarding the integrity of elections and we strive to enforce the Rules with uniform consistency. Policies that may relate to elections are:

In addition, we have product specific policies that may relate to elections. For example, X’s Political Content ads policy prohibits promotion of political content targeting Brazil.

We have a range of enforcement options, which we take to reduce the risk of harm to our users, in a proportionate manner. Users can also appeal account suspensions if they believe we made an error. They can do this through the platform interface or by filing a report. Please refer to https://help.x.com/en/rules-and-policies/x-report-violation for details and instructions on how to submit a report to X and for an overview of the reporting process.

Safety on X

Our Help Center has tips on using X, and resources to help you stay safe on X. We also suggest staying informed about account safety and security, safeguarding your privacy, avoiding spam and scams, and consider controlling what you see. We provide answers to the most common questions; but if you need account support, submitting a support form ensures your request is routed to the appropriate team. You can always appeal an enforcement decision.

SIADE

The Electoral Disinformation Alert System (SIADE) has been put in place by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) to report content with the potential to cause harm to the balance of the election or the integrity of the electoral process.

The automated system allows anyone to file a report against:

  • Disinformation that affects the Electoral Court

  • Disinformation that affects members and collaborators of the Electoral Court and the Electoral Public Ministry

  • Threats and incitement to violence against members or assets of the Electoral Court and the Public Electoral Ministry

  • Disruption or incitement to the abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law (Anti-democratic acts)

  • Use of artificial intelligence in violation of labeling rules or to convey disinformation

  • Hateful behavior or speech

  • Misinformative content directed at candidates and parties that affect the legitimacy of the electoral process.

You can report such violations through this portal

After processing, alerts can be sent to platforms so that they can assess the possibility of a violation of their terms of use and apply the corresponding measures.

SIADE is a coordinating effort within TSE’s Center for Combating Disinformation and Defending Democracy (CIEDDE).

Community Notes

Community Notes aim to create a better informed world by empowering people on X to collaboratively add context to potentially misleading posts. Contributors can leave notes on any post and if enough contributors from different points of view rate that note as helpful, the note will be publicly shown on a post. Sign up to become a contributor.

This is an open and transparent process, that’s why we’ve made the Community Notes algorithm open source and publicly available on GitHub, along with the data that powers it so anyone can audit, analyze or suggest improvements.

Community Notes do not represent X’s viewpoint and cannot be edited or modified by our teams. A post with a Community Note will not be labeled, removed, or addressed by X unless it is found to be violating the X Rules, Terms of Service, or our Privacy Policy. Failure to abide by the rules can result in one’s removal from accessing Community Notes, and/or other remediations.

Anyone can report notes they believe aren’t in accordance with those rules by selecting the  menu on a note, and then selecting Report, or by using this form
